Buying guide: LED Drivers

The single most common ordering mistake is matching wattage but not current. A driver rated at 40 watts at 350 mA is not interchangeable with a 40 watt driver at 700 mA — the first will under-drive the module and the second will destroy it. After current, match the input voltage range (120V, 120-277V, 277-480V), the dimming protocol (0-10V, TRIAC/ELV, DALI), and the physical form factor including the lead length.

This group includes constant-current drivers from a few watts to several hundred, constant-voltage drivers for tape and low-voltage systems, dimmable and non-dimmable versions, and emergency backup drivers. Output current and voltage range are listed for each item.
