Outdoor lighting has to survive weather, insects, vibration and, in commercial work, a maintenance crew that changes lamps from a lift.

Buying guide: Outdoor Lighting

That makes the housing rating, the mounting and the serviceability more important than the photometrics alone.

Start with the location rating: damp covers a covered porch or soffit, wet covers anything directly exposed to rain, and IP66 and above is for washdown or coastal exposure. Then confirm the mounting — a slip fitter, a trunnion, a yoke, a tenon adapter or a wall bracket — because the same fixture body is often sold with several. Finally check the controls: photocell, motion sensor, 0-10V or StepDIM, since an outdoor fixture that cannot be controlled usually ends up running all night.

We stock area and site luminaires, floodlights, wall packs, bollards, canopy lights, garage fixtures, security lights and landscape products, in wattages from a few watts to over a thousand, with many families offering selectable wattage and CCT.
