Frequently Asked Questions

Wattage, color temperature, dimming, voltage, listings, shipping and returns for lighting fixtures, lamps, ballasts and electrical supplies at FixtureBay.

Choosing the right fixture

How do I know which wattage and color temperature to order?

Match the existing fixture first: read the label inside the housing or on the driver for input watts and CCT. If the old lamp is being replaced, choose a wattage within the range the ballast or driver supports, and pick the CCT that matches the room — 2700K to 3000K for warm residential interiors, 3500K to 4000K for offices and retail, 5000K for warehouses and parking areas.

What does selectable wattage or selectable CCT mean?

These fixtures ship with a switch inside the housing or on the driver that lets one SKU cover several configurations — for example 30W / 40W / 50W, or 3000K / 4000K / 5000K. You set it once at installation. That is why one listing shows several wattages and prices only once, and why the spec table lists every available position.

Will this fixture work with my existing dimmer?

Check the dimming type on the product page before ordering. 0-10V fixtures need a 0-10V control pair and will not dim on a standard TRIAC wall dimmer. TRIAC and ELV fixtures need a dimmer rated for LED loads and usually a minimum load. If you are unsure, send us the dimmer model and the fixture SKU and we will confirm compatibility.

Compatibility, voltage and listings

Can I replace just the driver or ballast instead of the whole fixture?

In most cases yes, and it is far cheaper than replacing a housing that is already installed. Match the output current, the voltage range, the dimming protocol and the physical form factor. Our LED driver pages list constant current, input range and dimming type; if the original label is unreadable, send a photo of the driver and the fixture label.

What voltage do I need — 120V, 120-277V or 480V?

120V is standard residential. 120-277V covers most commercial branch circuits and is the safest choice for a retrofit where the supply is not confirmed. 480V is for industrial services and three-phase distribution and must never be connected to a 120-277V circuit. Confirm at the panel before ordering.

Are these fixtures rated for wet or damp locations?

The IP rating and the UL wet/damp designation are listed on the product page. Damp location covers covered porches, soffits and bathrooms; wet location is required for anything directly exposed to rain or irrigation. A fixture rated for dry location only cannot be used outdoors even under an eave in most jurisdictions.

Do your fixtures carry UL, cUL or DLC listing?

Where the manufacturer lists a certification, it appears in the specification table for that product. DLC listing matters if you are claiming utility rebates on a commercial project — check the DLC qualified products list for the exact model before you buy, because rebate eligibility is tied to the listing, not to the fixture family.

Delivery

How long does delivery take?

In-stock orders leave the warehouse within 1–2 business days. Ground transit is typically 2-5 business days inside the contiguous United States. Tracking is emailed as soon as the carrier scans the parcel, and larger fixture orders may ship in more than one carton.

When does free shipping apply?

Shipping is free on orders over $39. Below that threshold the carrier rate is calculated at checkout and shown before you pay. Long linear fixtures and poles can carry a freight surcharge which is disclosed on the product page rather than hidden in the cart.

Returns, claims and pricing

Can I return a fixture that has already been installed?

Installed fixtures, cut lengths of tape or channel, and fixtures with modified wiring cannot be returned, because they can no longer be sold as new. Unopened cartons in original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Test the fixture on the bench before it goes up the ladder.

What if the fixture arrives broken?

Photograph the carton and the damaged component before discarding any packaging, and email us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number. Carrier damage and shipping errors are replaced or refunded at our cost. Keep the carton until the claim is closed — the carrier may ask to inspect it.

Do you ship to Canada, Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico?

Checkout is configured for United States addresses. For other destinations, contact us with the SKU and quantity first and we will quote freight and confirm carrier coverage. Oversized items such as poles and long linear runs are often restricted to freight within the contiguous states.

Do you offer project or contractor pricing?

Yes, for electrical contractors, lighting specifiers and property managers buying across multiple SKUs or in quantity. Send the part numbers, quantities and the project ship-to address and we will return a quote with lead times. Stock and lead time vary by manufacturer, so quoting from the SKU list is faster than quoting from a fixture schedule.

Why do two listings with the same description show different prices?

They are different SKUs. Common reasons are a different finish, a different CCT or wattage position, a different lens or beam distribution, or a different mounting accessory in the box. The specification table on each page lists the exact configuration — compare that table rather than the photo.

Full delivery and return conditions are on our Returns & Shipping page.

Still not sure what to order?

Send us the fixture label photo, the existing driver or ballast model, and the room or site conditions. We will confirm the matching SKU before you buy rather than after.
