These are increasingly specified by shape and base rather than by performance: a T10 tubular for a picture light, a G16.5 globe for a chandelier, an A15 for a ceiling fan, a PAR for a recessed can. Halogen lamps run hot and must respect the fixture's maximum wattage and clearance; touching the glass of a halogen lamp with bare fingers shortens its life.
